The Effects of Lifelong Learning Tendencies on Critical Thinking and Computational Thinking Skills

Abstract: It is aimed to examine the effects of computational thinking skills and critical thinking skills of students enrolled in the pedagogical formation certificate program, which is considered within the scope of lifelong learning in education faculties, on lifelong learning skills in this study. Scanning model principles were taken into account in order to achieve the aim. Structural regression analysis was used to test the relationship between variables in the study. The data were collected from 240 students who … Show more

“…The existence of a positive correlation between the ability to think mathematics critically and computationally is relevant to the outcome of research by ünveren Bilgiç et al (2021) that computational thinking ability directly and significantly impacts mathematical critical thinking ability at 84% of pedagogical students' lifelong learning tendencies on computational thinking and critical thinking abilities. The study's outcome is not very different from the outcome of this study.…”

“…One of the variables that repeatedly influences lifelong learning tendencies is information technology literacy. The computational thinking self-efficacy scale (CoT) for instance directly explains lifelong learning at a rate of 59% [6] and information literacy practices contribute positively and strongly to lifelong learning tendencies. The literacy includes how to use library resources for learning needs in the future [48] .…”

“…In the literature, it has been emphasized that higher education institutions are significant in raising individuals with the necessary knowledge and skills for LLL. It has been stated that LLL is an integral part of higher education [6] . Being in the system for some time does not guarantee this concept is problem-free.…”
