The Effects of Dokhwaljihwang-tang Intravenous Pharmacopuncture on Cisplatin-Induced Emesis and Gastrointestinal Mobility Disorder in Rats

[Abstract]Objectives : TheobjectiveofthisstudywastoevaluatetheeffectofDokhwaljihwang-tang (DJT) intravenouspharmacopunctureoncisplatin-inducedemesisandgastricmobilitydisorderin Wistarrats. Methods : Thirtyratswererandomlydividedintosixgroupsandcisplatinwasadministeredto allgroupsexceptthenormalgroup.Thecisplatingroup(n=5)receivedacisplatininjection only.Thesalinegroup(n=5)wasinjectedwithcisplatinfollowedby0.4mLofsaline.Groups DJT-1,DJT-2,andDJT-3wereinjectedwithcisplatin,followedby0.315g/kg,0.104g/kg,and 0.034g/kgofDJT,respectively.Bodyweight,foodintake,andkaolinintakeofratswere measured12h,24h,and36haftercisplatininjection.Residualfoodinthestomachwas measured48haftercisplatininjection. Results : Therewasnosignificantdifferenceinweight.Thefoodintakewasnotsignificantlydifferent12haftercisplatinadministration.Allgroupsexceptthenormalgroupshowedsignificantlydecreasedfoodintakeafter24h.After36h,foodintakewasnotsignificantlydifferent betweengroupsDJT-1,DJT-2,andDJT-3andthenormalgroup.Thekaolinintakeofgroups DJT-1andDJT-2wassignificantlydecreasedat12hand24haftercisplatininjection.Kaolin intakeandresidualfoodinthestomachweresignificantlydecreasedingroupsDJT-1,DJT-2,andDJT-3.
