IntroductionCorporates need to break through the dilemma of system and efficiency with the help of digital transformation in the digital economy era. This paper aims to examine the influence of digital transformation on corporate total factor productivity by investigating whether and how corporate technical cooperation and ESG performance mediate and moderate the relationship between them.MethodsThis study choose Chinese A-share listed manufacturing firms from 2016–2020 as the research sample and use the FGLS regression model to test the proposed hypotheses.ResultsResults show that digital transformation has a positive effect on corporate total factor productivity, and this positive impact is more pronounced when corporates have higher ESG performance. Corporate technical cooperation plays a mediating role between digital transformation and total factor productivity. ESG performance also plays a positive moderating role in the relationship between digital transformation and corporate technical cooperation.DiscussionOur results contribute to the literature on digital transformation and corporate total factor productivity at the micro-corporate level. Further, our findings offer insights to decision-makers and regulatory bodies regarding the current practices of digital transformation and its potential economic impact.

The coordinated promotion of urban digitalization and green development is an inevitable requirement for sustainable development in the digital age. Based on the coupling mechanism of urban digitalization and green development, in this study, we took 282 cities at the prefecture level and above in China from 2011 to 2019 as the research object, and we constructed the evaluation index system and calculated the coupling coordination degree (CD&GDD) of the two through the coupling coordination degree model. We further used the Dagum Gini coefficient, kernel density estimation, Markov chain and Moran’s I to assess the spatial effects of the regional differences, dynamic evolution trends and degree of coupling coordination. The results show the following: (1) The level of urban digitalization and green development show a fluctuating upward trend, and the interaction between the two is obvious. (2) Although the CD&GDD of most cities is continuously improving, it is still at a low level. There are large differences in the levels between the regions. (3) The inter-regional differences are the main source of the large overall differences in the CD&GDD in China, and these are mainly composed of the hypervariable density and net differences between the regions. (4) The phenomenon of “club convergence” exists in the CD&GDD. (5) The coupling coordination relationship between cities has a substantial spatial effect, and the spatial effect has obvious regional heterogeneity. The results and conclusions provide a reference for developing countries to promote green and low-carbon urban development.

As the main way of international capital flow and an important carrier of international technology spillover, have inward foreign direct investment (IFDI) and outward foreign direct investment (OFDI) improved the green development quality of the logistics industry? Based on the panel data of 27 provinces in China from 2006 to 2015, this paper uses the panel model to empirically test the impact of two-way FDI on the green development quality of the logistics industry. This paper mainly draws the following research conclusions: (1) Two-way FDI had significantly improved the green development quality of the logistics industry, and the promotion effect of IFDI was stronger than that of OFDI, indicating that two-way FDI is a key approach of enhancing the quality of the green development.(2) The impact of two-way FDI on the green development quality has spatial-temporal heterogeneity. Specifically, only in the eastern region, IFDI and OFDI have played a significant role in promoting the green development of the logistics industry at the same time; the role of IFDI in improving the green development quality of the logistics industry has weakened over time, while OFDI has strengthened.(3) The effect of two-way FDI on the green development quality of the logistics industry was affected by the environmental regulation intensity. With the improvement of environmental regulations intensity, the impact of IFDI on the green development quality of the logistics industry presents an "inverted U" trend that first rises and then decreases. The impact of OFDI on the green development quality of the logistics industry presents a gradually increasing characteristic.
