The Effects of Biosynthetic Insulin-Like Growth Factor-1 Supplementation on Somatic Growth, Maturation, and Erythropoiesis on the Neonatal Rat

Abstract: ABSTRACT. Somatomedins are anabolic hormones that may stimulate growth during the perinatal period. To test this hypothesis, neonatal rats were injected with a biosynthetic somatomedin, insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) twice daily for the first 2 wk of life.
