The present case study evaluated web‐based training with coaching and feedback delivered through videoconferencing software to increase teacher use of behavioral methods associated with increased compliance. The participant, a preschool special education teacher, increased both her knowledge of efficacious interventions for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and her treatment fidelity during the course of the case study. The student with ASD demonstrated extremely high levels of compliance at the onset of the case study and so, although improvements were noted, this gain should not be assumed to generalize to the ASD population. A wide range of considerations for future research has been offered.

Resumo Para a Análise do Comportamento o professor é essencial como programador e aplicador de contingências de ensino em sala de aula. O desempenho dos alunos é funcionalmente relacionado ao do professor, tornando importante o investimento em treinamento profissional. A taxonomia Lemov catalogou técnicas de ensino utilizadas por professores de alunos com excelente desempenho, apresentando similaridade com a perspectiva comportamental. Este estudo procurou avaliar um treinamento de técnicas da taxonomia Lemov com quatro professores do ensino fundamental. Foram realizados registros pré e pós-treino das ocorrências das técnicas em sala de aula, e treinadas as técnicas “Sem Escapatória” e “Puxe Mais”, através de cartilhas e role-play com feedback. Após a intervenção houve aumento da frequência de técnicas utilizadas para execução de perguntas aos alunos, relacionadas às técnicas treinadas. Porém, observou-se baixa ocorrência de “Sem Escapatória” e “Puxe Mais”, usadas apenas por metade dos participantes, indicando efeito parcial do treinamento sobre o comportamento dos professores. Discute-se a necessidade de treinamento in situ, modelação e simplificação dos critérios do treinamento.

Preservice and novice teachers often identify behavior management as an area of weakness that they attribute to a lack of sufficient instruction during their teacher preparation. Behavioral skills training (BST) is an evidence‐based teaching methodology based on the principles of applied behavior analysis used to teach new skills. This study investigated the use of BST in the university setting to teach undergraduate preservice teachers enrolled in a field‐based special education course to implement a token economy during small group instruction with children. A single‐case research design was used to assess the effectiveness of using BST by evaluating accuracy of implementation before and after BST. Results showed BST was an effective teaching procedure and social validity measures collected from the preservice teachers indicated BST was acceptable to all participants. Limitations and needs for future research are discussed.
