“…Compared with conventional exercise styles (e.g., resistance exercise, muscular endurance exercise, and aerobic exercise), Baduanjin typically involves a mind–body integration practice to balance the Yin and Yang in the body and promote blood circulation and Qi for maximizing both physical and mental well-being [37]. Previous studies have shown that regular Baduanjin exercise is beneficial in improving psychological and physiological outcomes among elderly adults and various clinical populations (e.g., Parkinson’s disease, chronic neck pain, chronic fatigue syndrome-like illness, psychological illness) [3840]. As a typical mind–body exercise with characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine, Baduanjin may be considered to be an effective exercise for a wide range of populations (e.g., a healthy population or patients with chronic diseases; young, middle-aged, or elderly adults) in promoting health.…”

“…Figure 2 shows the result of the assessment of risk of bias. A total of 13 RCTs (41.9%)[18,33,34,42,45-47,49,54-58] described random sequence generation and 9 (29.0%)[18,33,38,39,47,49,51,54,57] described allocation concealment. With the regard to blinding, 4 RCTs (12.9%)[33,45,47,54] blinded the participants and 14 (45.2%)[18,33,36,37,41,43-45,50-54,57] blinded the data collectors.…”

The average dropout rate of participants was 12%, with 7 RCTs reporting a rate in excess of 20%[18,34,47,49,50,53,57]. Finally, absence of publication bias was further assured by funnel plot and Egger’s test results for heart rate ( P = 0.06), VO 2 peak ( P = 0.16), 6MWT ( P = 0.20), and MLWHFQ score ( P = 0.37), respectively.…”

“…To the best of our knowledge, our study is the first RCT to investigate the effect of BST exercise in patients with AMI who underwent PCI. Chen and his colleagues [29] have indicated that Baduanjin exercise can effectively improve the quality of life in patients with heart failure. A meta-analysis of nineteen studies [30] also showed that Baduanjin practice is beneficial for the quality of life.…”
