The Effects of Asymmetry in Combination with Reduced Graphene Oxide Nanosheets on Hydrazine Electrocatalytic Detection on Cobalt Phthalocyanines

Abstract: New symmetric {tetrakis [4-(4-(5-chloro-1Hbenzo[d]imidazol-2-yl) phenoxy phthalocyaninato] Co (II) (CoTPc)} and low symmetry {tris tert butyl phenoxy mono [4-(4-(5-chloro-1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl) phenoxy phthalocyaninato]} Co (II) (CoMPc) were successfully synthesised and combined with reduced graphene oxide nanosheets (rGONS) for electrocatalytic detection of hydrazine. Prior to electrocatalysis, the probes were characterised using cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Chronoamperome… Show more

“…The limits of detection (LoD) were determined using 3δ/s, where δ is standard deviation of the blanks and s the slopes of the calibration curves (Figure 10a (Insert)). A summary of LoDs illustrated in Table 2, reveals that GCE/CoPc@DNDs had a lowest LoD of 0.33 μM which was better than some literature reports, Table 2 [13,48]. A look into sequentially modified electrodes shows that GCE/DNDs-CoPc(seq) performed better than its counterpart GCE/CoPc-DNDs(seq), this shows the importance of placing the CoPc on top as has been shown in literature [49].…”
