The Effectiveness of Educational Pillars Based on Vygotsky's Theory in Achievement and Information Processing Among First Intermediate Class Students

Abstract: The aim of the research is to identify the effectiveness of the educational pillars strategy based on Vygotsky's theory in mathematical achievement and information processing of first-grade intermediate students. In pursuit of the research objectives, the experimental method was used, and the quasi-experimental design was used for two equivalent groups, one control group taught traditionally and the other experi-mental taught according to the educational pillars strategy. The research sample consisted of (66) … Show more

“…Achievement considered as the ability of the learners to understand, assimilate the study materials and their contents through the learner's perception of the relationships between the information included in the contents of the course, the facts and concepts that he extracts from them that will be subsequently reflected on his performance in the tests that measure this, whether they are written or oral tests, at any time determined for their conduct. As for mathematics achievement, it is the results of what students learn from the elements of mathematics, it is considered an indicator of the success of one of the teaching strategy that was followed in learning, in a certain period and is usually measured by an achievement test prepared for this purpose [57,58]. Some factors affect students 'academic achievement, such as ways of thinking, habits of mind, motivation, self-concept, in addition to dealing with information, obtaining it, making decisions about it, and these factors may be affected by external factors that contribute to its development, including teaching methods and strategies for developing these Aspects [59].…”

“…He believed that learning takes place in the best form under the supervision and cooperation of those who have experience more, and he called that teaching should focus on providing the opportunity for students to interact with experienced people. His theory focused on that students should be placed in situations that allow them to cooperate with the most capable people (for example: encouraging school trips, inviting officials to the classroom…) He believes that learning from the most experienced person results in the student acquiring more information, and enables him to address problems in a more focused manner, which helps the student to grow and develop, and this contrasts with students who work alone and receive traditional education [7]. However, studies and research did not begin to focus on its applications in the classroom until the beginning of the seventies and developed different patterns for the application of cooperative learning in the classroom.…”

“…From the above, we note that achievement is related to the overall score, result, or level that the student attains as a result of performing a specific test. Accordingly, it can be said that achievement is one of the most important characteristics that distinguish the student from other students, and through it, he can know the extent of the student's progress, and his acquisition of concepts, generalizations, and skills [29,30]. Methods…”
