The effectiveness of breakwater shape: Fluid particle behavior simulation

Abstract: The simulation of physical phenomena between fluid and its boundary is a fascinating study because of its application in various fields of engineering. In this simulation, we analyze how fluids are arranged as granular particles with certain conditions interacting with the wall. The walls are varied as the characters that represent the shape of the breakwater building. This simulation compares the effectiveness of commonly used wave barriers. Wave barriers are used to hold the waves from reaching the land. In … Show more

“…Granular simulation, with various advantages, can represent an event in the real world into a simulation that can be learned [1][2]. With these advantages, researchers can easily create complex simulations and simplify them to analyze them then (e.g., Traffic [3][4], and wave [5][6]). In addition, granular simulations are also valuable for numerical prediction, such as cuttings transport behavior in good drilling [7], and predicting the effluent quality and biomass properties of aerobic granular reactors [8].…”

“…In this study, we tried to simulate how microscopic granules are cosmetic when falling on a curved surface, including concave and convex. In the previous study, the prediction behavior of granular against the different surface has been done, for example, using simulation of granular to observe how the speed of granular is damping by other granular on the slope [9], using the different wall to interact with the granular as wave [5], and interaction between granular with vertical pore [10] and horizontal pore [11]. This research is essential to give an idea of what parameters affect the interaction between granular particles and curved surfaces for use in simulations with many more complex parameters.…”
