The birthing process is a natural and physiological process, but it can be a tiring and painful process for the birth mother. One effort to help the birthing process run smoothly is to use a birthing ball. A birth ball is a large ball that is used for sitting, squatting, or turning around during the birthing process. This study aims to determine the effect of the birthing ball on the smoothness of the birthing process for mothers giving birth at TPMB (Midwife Independent Practice) Purwakarta Regency, Indonesia. This research uses a quasi-experimental method with a non-randomized control group design. The research sample was 60 primigravida mothers who were divided into two groups, namely the treatment group (30 mothers) and the control group (30 mothers). The treatment group was given a birthing ball during the birthing process, while the control group was not given a birthing ball. The results of the research show that there is an influence of the birthing ball on the smoothness of the birth process. Birthing mothers who used a birthing ball had a shorter active phase first stage time (p<0.05) and lower labor pain intensity (p<0.05) compared to birthing mothers who did not use a birthing ball. Based on the results of this research, it can be concluded that the birthing ball is an effective non-pharmacological method to help smooth the birthing process.

Childbirth is a natural process.Discomfort, fear and pain is a problem for mothers in labor. Pain in the first stage of the active phase of labor is severe pain with a longer time, therefore it is necessary to pay attention to handling to overcome pain in the first stage of labor. This study aims to determine the effect of the use of birth balls on the intensity of labor pain in the active phase of the first stage of primigravida mothers in PMB Bekasi City 2022. This study uses a quasi-experimental approach. The sample in this study was 30 respondents, namely 15 mothers in the control group and 15 mothers in the intervention group. The instrument used is an observation sheet on the implementation of the use of a birth ball. The analysis used is univariate analysis and bivariate analysis using Independent T test and Paired T - Test. HThe results of the univariate analysis showed that in the intervention group the average level of pain before the birth ball was done the average pain level was 7.46 and after it was done it was 4.46. The mean level of pain in the control group on examination 1 was 7.06 and on examination 2 was 6.80. The results of the bivariate analysis showed that there was an effect of using a birth ball on the pain of labor in the first stage of the active phase in primigravida mothers with a p value of 0.000. There is no effect of not using a birth ball on the pain of labor in the first stage of the active phase of primigravid mothers with a p value of 3.64. There was a difference in the decrease in pain level in the first stage of the active phase in primigravida mothers in the intervention group and the control group with a p value of 0.000. The results of this study can be concluded that the use of birth balls is effectively used to reduce labor pain in the first stage of the active phase of primigravida mothers

La terapia de balón, también conocida como esferodinamia, es un ejercicio que estira y relaja los músculos pélvicos al usar una pelota suiza, que, al ser incorporada al trabajo de parto, reduce la duración de su primera fase y disminuye el dolor. El objetivo de la revisión es describir su aplicación como medida no farmacológica para el manejo del dolor y sus efectos en la evolución del trabajo de parto. Para alcanzar esto, se realizó una revisión bibliográfica basándose en artículos científicos publicados en los últimos cinco años. Esta técnica no farmacológica ha demostrado beneficios en el manejo del dolor y la ansiedad materna. Durante el embarazo y el trabajo de parto, esta terapia promueve la corrección postural, la relajación y el estiramiento de los músculos del piso pélvico. Además, ayuda en el descenso y rotación de la cabeza fetal y aumenta la dilatación del cuello uterino, facilitando el parto natural. La terapia de balón reduce el tiempo de trabajo de parto y es una medida eficaz no farmacológica para el manejo del dolor. Así mismo, ayuda a corregir la presentación fetal y evita procedimientos obstétricos.
