Abstract:Mutations in sigma-1 receptor (σ 1 R) gene are found in ALS. The σ 1 R forms oligomers that are regulated by its ligands. However, little is known about the effect of mutations. Here, we transfected motor neuronal NSC-34 cells with σ 1 R-mCherry (mCh), σ 1 R E102Q -mCh or untagged forms to assess detergent solubility and subcellular distribution by immunostaining and FRAP. The oligomeric state was assessed using crosslinker. Wildtype σ 1 Rs were soluble to detergents, but the mutants were enriched in the insol… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
