“…However, we report, for the first time, that the addition of VEGF-A 165 enhances the progression of meiosis to the MII stage, this rate being 29.4% in preantral follicles grown in vitro. In sheep oocytes grown in vivo, Cao et al (2009) have observed that VEGF-A 165 significantly increases the percentage of oocytes at MII and promotes a normal distribution of α-tubulin and chromosomes in the spindle. This suggests that the exposure of oocytes to VEGF-A 165 improves the organization of the cytoskeleton and that this cellular modification is beneficial to the progression of meiosis.…”
