The effect of treatment on the results of high‐pass resolution perimetry in glaucoma

Abstract: In order to find out to which extent high-pass resolution perimetry would detect any changes in patients treated for glaucoma, resolution perimetry results were evaluated from 56 glaucoma patients and 15 untreated ocular hypertensive patients followed for 2 to 3 years. Fifty-nine of the 71 examined patients showed lower resolution thresholds, i.e. increased sensitivity, after 2 years, compared to initial values. The threshold decrease was significantly larger in the treated glaucoma patients (median 1.22 dB) t… Show more

“…The most critical part of the program deals with grading of glaucoma. Data were derived from normal subjects (Martin-Boglind 1993) and glaucoma patients ' I (Martin-Boglind & Wanger 1994;Martin & Wanger, unpublished data). The program uses information about age, resolution perimetry findings (Wanger & Persson 1987;Fristn 1993a,b), heredity for glaucoma, IOP, the occurrence of pseudoexfoliations and/or vascular lesions, and whether the patient has anti-glaucoma treatment or not, altogether seven pieces of information.…”

“…H (Frisen 1987(Frisen , 1993a(Frisen , 1993b has during the last years become a well-established perimetric method, especially in glaucoma patients (Wanger & Persson 1987;Sample et al 1992;Wanger & Martin-Boglind 1993;Martinez et al 1995;Martin-Boglind & Wanger 1994). Since glaucoma almost exclusively affects elderly people, many of the patients also have lens opacities.…”
