The effect of TiO2thin film thickness on self-cleaning glass properties

Abstract: Abstract. TiO 2 is one of semiconductor materials which are widely used as photocatalyst in the form of a thin film. The TiO 2 thin film is prepared by using the spin coating sol-gel method. The researcher prepared TiO 2 thin film with 3 coating variations and X-Ray Diffraction characterization, UV-Vis Spectrophotometer, Electron Microscopy Scanning, and examined its hydrophilic and anti-fogging properties. The result of X-Ray Diffraction showed that the phase formed is the anatase on 101crystal field. The Ele… Show more

“…The value of the contact angle is found to be around 41°. This slight reduction in the contact angle (which was measured to be 43° before light exposure) is rather expected 25,26 . The effect of the sunlight has been reported earlier and was found to decrease the contact angle over time 25,26 .…”

“…Due to its remarkable functional properties, the range of applications for TiO2 is very wide. For example, for the application of self-cleaning glasses [22], filtration of wastewater into drinkable water [23][24], Dye Sensitized Solar Cells (DSSC), integrating pure or modified anatase TiO2 and based on the photo-catalytic principle, have been developed [25].…”

“…In recent decades, the transition-metal oxide semiconductor, especially TiO2 Nps has been extensively subjected due to outstanding and versatile applications in photodegradation of dyes, solar cells, photo-chemical sensors, anti-fog glasses, self-cleaning covers, fuel cells, etc [1][2][3][4][5][6]. In addition, due to excellent properties such as low cost, none-toxicity, large bandgap about 3.2 eV, high oxidizing ability, high resistance against corrosion, it plays an important role in photovoltaic, electrochromic devices and degradation of complex-organic pollutants and infrangible Azo-dyes.…”
