The Effect of the Ionizing Radiation on Hydroxyapatite–Polydimethylsiloxane Layers

Abstract: The bio hydroxyapatite (HAp) was used from a long time in different medical and environmental applications. The HAp layers with a uniform surface were used for various medical applications such as orthopedic and dental metal implants. In this work, we reported on the influence of X‐ray radiation on the structural and morphological properties of composite layers based on HAp and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) deposited on titanium substrates. The HAp:PDMS layers were investigated by different complementary methods… Show more

“…In our previous work [24], we have studied the modifications induced by a 2 Gy Xray radiation dose on hydroxyapatite-polydimethylsiloxane composite layers. The depth profile analysis showed the depletion of Ca, P, C, O, Si, and H elements from the layers due to layer exfoliation.…”

“…Damage-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs) and pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) are molecules specifically designed to respond rapidly to injury or infection to maintain the body’s homeostasis. PAMPs are exclusively microbial molecules that, once identified, alert the human organism, while DAMPs are similar but are produced solely as a consequence of endogenous damage [ 53 ]. Toll-like receptors (TLRs) are the receptors through which DAMPs and PAMPs initiate the inflammatory innate immune response [ 54 ].…”

“…SEM-EDX analysis , was used to evidence the influence of the electrodeposition parameters in the Co–Sb alloy composition, see Figures –. The SEM micrographs suggest the formation of two types of morphologies, NWs and semispherical nano/micromushroom caps, with larger diameters compared to nanowires.…”
