The Effect of Temperature on Wear Mechanism of the AlCrN Coated Components

Abstract: The aim of the paper was to investigate the temperature effect on the wear mechanism of AlCrN coated components. The coating was deposited by Physical Vapour Deposition process (PVD) on WC/Co substrate. Tribological tests were performed in sliding conditions using high temperature T‑21 tribotester, produced by ITeE-PIB Radom. The tests were performed in a ball-on-disc configuration (Si3N4 ceramic ball), under dry friction conditions at room temperature, 600°C and 750°C. An optical microscope, interferometer, a… Show more

“…The detailed deposition process parameters are not provided by the coating supplier. The selected coating exhibits excellent tribological characteristics at temperatures up to 1100 °C [14]. The chemical composition of the coating, measured by X-ray microprobe EDS, is 36.9 ± 0.2 at% Al, 39.1 ± 0.2 at% Cr and 21.2 ± 0.3 at% N. The thickness of the coating is ca 1.2 µm.…”

“…The discs made of various types of TiB 2 /Ti were coated using the commercial coating AlCrN-based (BALINIT ®® ALCRONA PRO made by Oerlikon Balzers, Polkowice, Poland) which exhibits excellent tribological characteristics at temperatures up to 1100 • C [28]. The deposition process parameters are not provided by the coating supplier.…”
