The effect of particle identity on a new type of weak localization

Abstract: In this paper. weak lonlivtion of a new kind is studied. Within the hamework of the new developing theory, electron exchange is shown to alter the angular distribution of scattered elecbons. The nnge of energies of incident el@" for which exchange effects are important is estimated.

“…Neglecting exchange effects, in the resulting expression (17), both braand ketvectors become non symmetric, and we obtain the well-known result obtained in [25][26][27]. In contrast to the usual weak localization, one of the crossed lines in the new type of weak localization corresponds to inelastic scattering, while the others correspond to elastic interaction with randomly distributed power centers.…”

“…Taking into account the principle of indistinguishability of electrons in a beam and a medium, as was shown for a neutral atomic medium [26], but also takes place in a solid, this shifts the scattering enhancement to the parameters of an ordinary weak localization. As it is shown in [26], the scattering intensity includes the electron exchange terms varying directly as cosχ, where χ is a scattering angle. The expression for intensity contains two main terms, the first one is specific for the new weak localization, and the exchange interaction here contributes as an increasing pre-factor.…”

“…As a consequence, the method is effective when applied to simple systems. This explains why every given problem of a scattering event is solved by applying an ad hoc approach, as for example shown in works [5][6][7]. In the text-book by Davydov [2], one finds a detailed discussion problem of particles collision summarized by the conclusion that a general theoretical approach to address collision problems is required.…”

“…The case of the ratio / (1 (where is the particle collision frequency and is the particle energy loss) has been considered in [37][38][39]. Recently, the opposite limiting case / '1, that is closer to the usual weak localization (i.e.…”
