The effect of MLS laser radiation on cell lipid membrane

Abstract: Introduction. Authors of numerous publications have proved the therapeutic effect of laser irradiation on biological material, but the mechanisms at cellular and subcellular level are not yet well understood. Objective. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of laser radiation emitted by the MLS M1 system (Multiwave Locked System) at two wavelengths (808 nm continuous and 905 nm pulsed) on the stability and fluidity of liposomes with a lipid composition similar to that of human erythrocyte membrane or … Show more

“…However, if our experimental conditions, which prevent macroscopical thermal increases, can influence the light‐water heat‐interaction at the nanoscale, it is not easy to be speculated. On the other hand, Pasternak et al showed that 808 and 905 nm laser radiation, depending on the parameters used, may cause structural and functional changes in cell membranes. Walski et al supposed that polychromatic light 750 to 2000 nm is able to interact with cellular membrane, because of the absorption of near‐infrared radiation that can significantly disturb the energy of hydrogen bonds, which in turn can lead to their disruption and the increased dissociation of water molecules.…”

“…DAUDA was located in the hydrophobic region of the lipid membrane, while the TMA-DPH probe was near the hydrophilic part of the lipid bilayer. An increase in the fluorescence anisotropy of the label is a consequence of a decrease in the membrane fluidity [ 24 ]. The final concentration of the fluorescent labels in the solution was 1 μM.…”

“…The treatment method includes low-level laser therapy and laser acupuncture [ 12 , 13 ]. Studies indicate that laser acupuncture for Bell's palsy can reduce pain and have anti-inflammatory effects, though the exact mechanism remains unclear [ 14 , 15 ].…”
