“…Clowns make both children and adults laugh, and medical clowns are now being introduced into ‘adult care’, for example for patients with dementia or psychosis, and those undergoing in vitro fertilisation (IVF). Friedler  et al 5 studied the effects of a bedside encounter with a clown on the pregnancy rate of women undergoing IVF and embryo transfer. After one treatment cycle, 36.4% of women exposed to a 15 min clowning routine of jokes and magic tricks immediately after embryo transfer became pregnant, while only 20.2% of the control group became pregnant.…”
