The effect of low flow anesthesia on hemodynamic and peripheral oxygenation parameters in obesity surgery

Abstract: To investigate the effects of low-flow anesthesia on hemodynamic parameters and recovery from anesthesia in obese individuals undergoing laparoscopic surgery. Methods: This randomized-controlled and prospective study included 44 obese patients who underwent laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy operation. The patients were randomly allocated into 2 groups as low-flow and high-flow anesthesia. Further, the groups compared in terms of hemodynamic parameters, anesthesia recovery times, operation times, and arterial blo… Show more

“…17 The effect of LFA on hemodynamics and recovery, even in obese individuals undergoing laparoscopic surgery, has been reassuring and safer regarding the adequacy of tissue perfusion. 18 Even hypotensive anesthesia with a low flow was not detrimental to oxidative stress as measured using ischemia-modified albumin and thiol/disulfide homeostasis. 19 Our study shows that VO 2 -based FGF adjustment and N 2 O can be used safely until 4 hours in patients with a body mass index of 18.5 to 29.9 kg/m 2 , and FGF of 500 mL/min can also be achieved.…”

“…The effect of LFA on hemodynamic parameters was evaluated in many studies [3,[24][25][26]. It was found that LFA did not significantly change the hemodynamic parameters when compared to NFA.…”
