The effect of grating‐position deviation and fiber dispersion in the fiber‐optic–CDMA network with the FBG encoder/decoder for incoherent 2D coding

Abstract: The effect of grating‐position deviation (GPD) and fiber dispersion in a fiber‐optic–CDMA network with a FBG encoder/decoder for incoherent 2D coding are studied here. For error‐free transmission, the GPD‐caused maximum optical pulse‐position deviation (PPD) must be below Δm, and the transmission distance must be below Lm. A modified encoder/decoder configuration is proposed to compensate for the fiber dispersion. With this proposed encoder/decoder, the user's distances in a network can be improved to L ± Lm. … Show more
