The effect of glycosaminoglycan loss on chondrocyte viability: A study on porcine cartilage explants

Abstract: Objective. Loss of glycosaminoglycan (GAG) is an early event in osteoarthritis. Recent findings showed increased cell death in arthritic cartilage and linkage with extracellular matrix degradation.
