Background: Ficus carica has been broadly used as traditional medicine around the world. Less toxicity of this plant represent its possible uses as therapeutic remedy for several disorders. In folk medicine, Ficus carica fruit has been used to treat hyperuricemia and associated conditions like gout and renal stones. However, no scientific work has been done so far to observe these effects. Aim and Objective: To assess that Ficus carica (Fig fruit) extract can lessen the elevated blood levels of uric acid in hyperuricemia induced by potassium oxonate in rats. Place and Duration of Study: The study was carried out at the Pharmacology Department of Post Graduate Medical Institute, Lahore and completed in six months. Methods: Thirty-six rats were divided randomly into six groups. Group A was the negative control. Group B was the positive control and rats in this group were given potassium oxonate intraperitoneally (250 mg/kg) to induce hyperuricemia. Group C received potassium oxonate and allopurinol (5mg/kg) also. Group D, E, & F received potassium oxonate and Ficus carica in three different doses low (250mg/kg), medium (500 mg/kg), and high (750 mg/kg) respectively. In all groups, potassium oxonate was administered on days one, three and seven while test agents were administered for seven consecutive days. Sampling was done on day zero, one, three and seven. Results: In experimental animals, Ficus carica fruit extract decreased serum levels of uric acid in dose dependent manner. It reduced uric acid levels significantly (p value < 0.001) in medium and high dose extract groups as compared to hyperuricemic control group. Serum uric acid levels in medium dose group E (2.8 + 0.54) and low dose group F (2.5 + 0.31) were comparable to that of allopurinol group C (2.2 + 0.27) though this effect was observed earlier in allopurinol group C indicating quicker onset of allopurinol action. Conclusion: Fiscus carica features antihyperuricemic effects. It resulted in significant decrease in levels of uric acid in serum of the extract treated animals in doses of 500mg/kg and 750mg/kg. Standardized herbal medicines are classified as one of Indonesia's natural medicine ingredients in addition to herbal medicine and phytopharmaceuticals. The safety and efficacy of standardized herbal medicines are scientifically proven through preclinical trials, and raw materials and products have been standardized. One includes standardized herbal medicines is diapet, psidii, lelap, fitolac, and glucogarp. To determine the bioavailability of standardized herbal products containing guava leaf extract (Psidium guajava L.). which uses single and combined natural materials. The method used is experimental with a crossover design. Blood samples are taken from the marginalis vein of the rabbit ear at 0.5 hours; 1; 2; 4; and 6. The level of quercetin in the blood is determined by the reverse-phase HPLC method. The mobile phase used is methanol:aquabidest (59:41,v/v), stationary phase octadecyl silica (C18), flow rate 1 mL/min, UV-Vis detector 370 nm, and injection volume 20 ?L. The value of bioavailability parameters obtained in the parameters Cpmax, Tmax, and AUC of product A is 1.486454 ?g / ml; 1.4 hours and 10.2615291 ?g/ml/h, product B is 1.29224019 ?g/ml; 1.5 hours and 11.30810501 ?g/ml/hour. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the bioavailability profile of the two products is not much different, so it is expected that the effects caused are the same.

Health education about the benefits of herbal plants as anti-gout arthritis drugs needs to be done to help people increase their knowledge so that they can apply wise actions and attitudes that can improve their quality of life. The purpose of community service activities is to find out the effect of health socialization on the use of herbal plants on gout by assessing the increase in knowledge, attitudes, actions of participants and assistance in making ginger tea as a prevention of gout arthritis, as well as conducting gout screening tests. Methods of community service activities in the form of counseling, outreach, and education as well as assistance in making ginger medang which will then be evaluated with pre and post counseling questionnaires. The number of participants 30 people are people who live in the work area of the Palembang Kertapati Health Center. An indicator of the success of counseling is an increase in the knowledge, attitudes and actions of community service participants. In the results of the study, it was known that the level of knowledge before socialization and education was 36.7% and increased after socialization (86.7%); attitude of participants before socialization 80% after socialization increased to 100%; action before socialization 63.3% after socialization 100%. It is known that there is an influence from education and outreach in the form of increasing knowledge, attitudes and actions of the community at the Kertapati Health Center, Palembang City, South Sumatra so that a follow-up program is needed in the form of intensive counseling for health center cadres as the spearhead of information on a wider range of people.
