Abstract:Experiments have shown that for thixotropic solgel systems consisting of ZnFe 2 O 4 nanoparticles without any matrix material, the measured magnetization, or susceptibility of gels, are greater than those of sols. For the reduced susceptibility, a system with a volume fraction of particles of v =2.0% is lower than a system with v =1.5%. These results have been interpreted in terms of a magnetization mechanism based on the Brownian rotation of the moments fixed inside the colloidal particles, which would b… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
