Many hypotheses on how a language learner gathers or acquires a second language have been produced during the last 50 years. Many linguists and scholars have presented their thoughts and assumptions in their discussions of how to teach and learn a second language. The current review article gives a basic definition of universal grammar, which then critically examines the arguments in favour of and against it to respond thoroughly to the question. The study examines developmental data showing that learners employ hierarchically built structures at all levels of language organization. The use of probabilistic processes and inductive learning mechanisms appropriate for the psychological restrictions on language acquisition is suggested by longitudinal trajectories of development, which demonstrate sensitivity to the amount of specific patterns in the input. This review article assesses the Universal Grammar theory's impact on second language learning and instruction. However, it has been widely adopted over the last several decades by American linguist Noam Chomsky and its many adherents.

This research focuses on the study of English consonants. This research used literature review method to explore the English consonant such as the manner of articulation, the organs produced the consonant, and the benefit of learning English consonant. The results are, the first section explores the specific anatomical structures and organs within the vocal tract that play a role in producing consonant sounds. The second section examines the different ways in which airflow is obstructed or modified during consonant production, highlighting categories such as plosives, fricatives, affricates, nasals, and approximants. The third section investigates the various factors that influence consonant pronunciation, including phonetic, phonological, sociolinguistic, and individual factors, as well as the impact of language contact and second language acquisition. The final section discusses the advantages of learning English consonants, such as improved communication skills, enhanced listening comprehension, expanded vocabulary acquisition, and increased oral fluency. Overall, this research provides valuable insights into the study of English consonants, offering a comprehensive understanding of their production, variations, and implications for language instruction and speech pathology.

Prevalensi kejadian hipertensi pada lansia semakin tinggi. Berbagai faktor resiko berperan penting terhadap kejadian hipertensi. Dengan mengetahui berbagai resiko, maka akan memudahkan dalam melakukan pencegahan hipertensi. Perlunya upaya para lansia untuk dapat menurunkan tekanan darah. Hipertensi dapat dicegah melalui pengendalian berbagai perilaku yang beresiko, Tujuan pengabdian masyarakat adalah meningkatkan pengetahuan lansia melalui penatalaksanaan gerakan perilaku CERDIK lansia. Kegiatan telah dilaksanakan pada pada hari Sabtu, 15 April 2023, mulai pukul 13.10-15.00WIB, terhadap 48 lansia Karang Werda di Desa Tanjungrejo. Pengabdi terdiri dari 3 orang dosen, dengan dibantu 1 mahasiswa. Kegiatan yang dilaksanakan pada bulan Ramadhan ini dikemas menjadi 2 tahapan, yakni 1). penyuluhan (tema CERDIK) dengan media audiovisual (video dan PPT) baik dengan video, maupun PPT dan 2) senam tera. Upaya menurunkan hipertensi melalui CERDIK telah tersampaikan yakni cek kesehatan secara berkala, enyahkan asap rokok, rajin beraktivitas fisik, diet sehat dengan kalori seimbang, istirahat yang cukup dan kelola stress. Perilaku CERDIK sebagai upaya untuk menurunkan tekanan darah lansia.
