The effect of fertilization and effective microorganisms on buckwheat and millet

Abstract: A b s t r a c t. The experiment was conducted in 2016 and 2017 in the vegetation hall of the Faculty of Environmental and Agricultural Development, West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin. The main goal of the study was to assess the influence of the biological preparation of effective microorganisms (EM), mineral and natural fertilization on: the yield of buckwheat (Fagopyrum Mill.) and millet (Panicum miliaceum L.), the SPAD index (leaf greenness index), the content of macro-and microelements in … Show more

“…The pH of the soil significantly affects the balance and availability of macroelements for plants. All species studied have the best yields when grown on soil with a neutral, alkaline pH, which corresponds to our soil (Jaroszewska et al, 2019;Farooq et al, 2016;Jäger, 2016).…”

“…Increased yields were recorded for rye: Dańkowskie Złote (by 40%), and for triticale: Grenado (6%) and Moderato (44%). In a study involving buckwheat and millet, no clear influence of effective microorganisms was observed, but the same had a positive effect on the quality of soil [Jaroszewska et al 2019]. In a study involving a three-year application of an EM preparation, increased content of phosphorus and potassium in the soil was reported [Radkowski and Radkowska 2018].…”

“…Buckwheat groats (Fagopyrum esculentum Moench) are an excellent source of nutrients, as they contain high levels of essential amino acids, minerals, and B vitamins compared to other cereals (Linh et al, 2014). Microorganisms and trace elements effectively affect the yield of buckwheat (Jaroszewska et al, 2019).…”
