In a first attempt, the approach response in newly hatched chicks, elicited by retinal flicker (James, 1959), has been shown to be modified by X-radiation on Days 7-9 of incubation (Strobel, Baker, & Macdonald, 1967;Strobel, Clark, & Macdonald, 1968).
