“…The weevils used in this study were originally collected in Yomitan Village, Okinawa Island, in August 1994 and cultured on sweet potato tuberous roots at the Fruit Fly Eradication Project Office under conditions of 25Ϯ1°C, 50-90% RH and 14L10D (five generations per year). The eggs were obtained in January 2004 as described in Ohno et al (2004Ohno et al ( , 2006b, and incubated in a plastic Petri dish lined with dry filter paper in an incubator (MIR-253, Sanyo Electric Co. Ltd., Tokyo, Japan; 25Ϯ1°C, 14L10D) for six days. After incubation, the eggs were moistened, carefully separated using a tiny brush, and submersed in 14% saltwater.…”
