In particular, Langer et al (1975) found, using cat spleen, that reduction of the extracellular calcium to 0.26 mm raised the efficacy of both noradrenaline and phenoxybenzamine as, respectively, inhibitor and promoter of transmitter efflux at 5 and 30 Hz, frequencies at which they were ineffective, or poorly effective, in standard Krebs solution.…”
