Leprosy is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium leprae. This study aimed to know the risk factors of leprosy events in Bombana Regency in 2020. This study was an observational analytic study with case control study design. The sample of this study was all population of Bombana Regency in 2020. The case sample was the population diagnosed in the Leprosy Reporting Information System information reported by the Bombana Regency Health Office during 2017 to 2019, while the control sample was undiagnosed leprosy with matching based on age and gender. The total sample was 122 people (61 cases and 61 controls). Control sampling with systematic random sampling. Data analysed using by the STATA computer program with odds ratio test and multiple logistic regression. The results showed that BCG immunization (OR = 5.74, 95% CI = 1.95-16.89) and income (OR = 3.35, 95% CI = 1.34-8.38) were risk factors for occurrence leprosy, while population migration variables, education level, and humidity are not significant risk factors for leprosy. The study concluded that BCG immunization and income are risk factors for leprosy. The variable most at risk for leprosy is BCG immunization.

Introduction: The prevalence of leprosy in 2017 in Indonesia shows 6.08 / 100,000 new cases of leprosy and 86.12% of which are multi-bacillary types. Determinants of leprosy events include the condition of residence. The aim of the study is to analyze the relationship between physical condition of house and sanitary facilities with the occurrence of leprosy. Methods: This study uses analytical observational research with a case-control study to analyze the relationship between the physical condition of the house and sanitary facilities and the incidence of leprosy in patients of Sumberglagah Hospital, Mojokerto. The sample size was 38, including 19 cases and 19 controls with simple random sampling. Research variables include individual characteristics, the physical conditions of the home, and sanitary facilities were analyzed using chi-square tests. Result : The results showed there was a significant relationship between physical conditions of house such as the ceiling, the type of floor, humidity, and density of the bedroom (p < α) with leprosy cases. Meanwhile, sanitary facilities do not show a significant relationship with leprosy cases. Conclusion: Efforts to prevent leprosy can be done through education to the public to maintain physical condition of the house according to prevailing requirements, especially the presence of ceilings, type of floor of the house made of materials that are easy to clean, comfortable humidity, and bedrooms not used by more than two people.

Background: East Java Province is a province on the island of Java with a high incidence of leprosy. Daha Husada Kediri General Hospital is a hospital that provides health services to leprosy patients. Objective: To analyze the risk factors for leprosy in Daha Husada General Hospital, Kediri City. Methods: This study used a case-control research design to use an analytic observational method. The case group was patients diagnosed with leprosy and treated at Daha Husada General Hospital. In contrast, the control group was patients who were not diagnosed with leprosy and were treated at Daha Husada General Hospital. The variables used are age, education level, occupation, gender, and contact history. The number of respondents was 362 respondents divided into case and control groups, each of which was 181 people. Data collection is done through medical records. Results: The p-value for age 0.01<0.05 with OR 2.60 and 95% CI (1.64-4.14), the p-value for educational level (0.01)<0.05 with OR 2.99 and 95% CI (1.93-4.60), the p-value for sex (0.00)<0.05 with OR 0.43 and 95% CI (0.27-0.68), the p-value for history contact (0.01) <0.05 with OR 5.56 and 95% CI (2.51-12.31) which means that age, educational level, gender, contact history are related to leprosy. Conclusion: Age, education level, gender, and contact history determine the transmission of leprosy at Daha Husada General Hospital, Kediri.
