This was a survey study involving 156 pre-service teachers taken from three local universities in Indonesia, investigating whether or not different L2 learning environment of English teacher education affect the NNES pre-service teachers’ teaching skills, intercultural sensitivity, exposure to foreign culture, and English proficiency. The data were collected through observation scaling checklist, and 2) questionnaire. Descriptive analysis and a series of one-way ANOVA were used to analyze the data. The results showed that: 1) the effect of L2 learning environments on teaching skills was not significant F (2) = 2.831., p = 0.062; 2) the effect of L2 learning environments on intercultural sensitivity was not significant F (2) = 4.991, p = 0.008; 3) the effect of L2 learning environments on exposure to foreign culture was not significant F (2) = 1.577, p = 0.210., and 4) the effect of L2 learning environments on English proficiency was significant F (2) = 56.153, p = 0.000.

Older People in the Platform Economy

Since the platform economies have emerged, there are many new ways how people can perform earning activities. These new opportunities concern older people too. However, some authors write that the actors of the platform economy are mainly younger people and it is not typical that older people work through platforms. We cite the opposite case of Oszkar (Hungarian On-line Passenger Intermediary System) where the ratio of older (55+) drivers to the total number of chauffeurs increased in time. At the same time, 30-40% of all drivers do not declare their age. In our paper, we analyse why older people do not declare their age. Using the results of our online survey and a Bayesian game theoretic model we prove that in the equilibrium state older people are frequently against letting others know their real age when they apply to work through a platform. We think that the cause is still existing age discrimination

Abstract:Teacher competence is one aspects that affecting the educational quality in many country over the world. Teacher competence was affected by some factors. These factors including teacher creativity, teacher interest, teacher attitude, teacher motivation to work, and motivation to achieve, principal leadership, school culture, compensation, job satisfaction, and school facilities. Science physics teacher competence also affected by these factors. In junior high school in West Seram Regency, the competence of science physics teacher was not well documented. This research aim was to determine the most important factors that affect the science physics teacher competence in junior high school in West Seram Regency. Research variables that were measured consist of science physics teacher creativity (X 1 ), science physics teacher motivation to work (X 2 ), science physics teacher interest (X 3 ), science physics teacher attitude (X 4 ), science physics motivation to achieve (X 5 ), compensation (X 6 ), job satisfaction (X 7 ) school culture (X 8 ), Principal leadership (X 9 ), and facilities in the school (X 10 ). The obtained data then analyzed by using the principle component analysis to reveal the most variable that affecting science physics teacher competence in the junior high school in South West Seram Regency. that from 10 factors that affect the competence of teachers, there are seven factors that most affect the competence of science physics teachers at junior high school in West Seram Maluku Regency. These factors identified as an internal factors (interests, attitudes, and creativity of teachers ), and external factors, namely the principal's leadership, compensation, school culture, and school facilities.
