The effect of cerium incorporation on the catalytic performance of cobalt and manganese containing layer double oxides for acetone oxidation

Abstract: Background Acetone is a volatile organic compound (VOC) that is often associated with poor air quality. Acetone has chronic toxicity towards humans and has a significant impact on the overall atmospheric air quality. In this study, several layer double oxides (with M2+ = Mg, Ni, Co or Mn and M3+ = Al or Ce) were tested as catalysts for acetone oxidation. Results MnAl‐LDO was found to be the most efficient catalyst. 50% acetone conversion was achieved at 170 °C (T50%) and 90% conversion at 200 °C (T90%).The inc… Show more

“…4b). 31,36,37 This study demonstrates the feasibility of the encapsulation strategy to improve the cycling stability of LDHs. It is worth mentioning that the slight solubility of PA in alkaline electrolyte still enables partial anion exchange by CO 3 2− (Fig.…”

“…Additionally, after Ce doping, the absorption peaks of CeO 2 and Ce 2 O 3 (PDF 34-0394, PDF 44-1086) presented in the diffraction peaks of the catalyst samples [ 40 , 47 ], indicating the conversion of ceric nitrate into CeO 2 and Ce 2 O 3 . The signal of the MnO x absorption peaks was weakened, indicating that Ce doping can improve MnO x dispersibility in the carriers [ 47 , 48 , 49 ].…”
