“…Our findings are in line with previous studies reporting the advantage and necessity of in-patient education for patients hospitalised for cardiovascular surgery, 7 , 8 , 13 but we are the first to demonstrate the superiority of patient-targeted education above standard education in decreasing anxiety levels of patients. Since present evidence in the literature suggests that the psychological stability of patients is associated with better physiological parameters after the procedure and early surgical recovery, 21 - 23 we propose that decreased anxiety provided by patient-targeted education is related to better clinical outcomes after cardiovascular surgery. However, the effect of decreased anxiety levels produced by patient-targeted education on morbidity and mortality rates after cardiovascular surgery should be evaluated in further clinical studies.…”

“…20 For this reason, it has also become important to visually support the things to be told in addition to the verbal statements in the patient education and it is suggested to use all methods in a combined manner in informing patients. 19,21 It was found in the present study that the individuals who received information about the procedure had a higher level of state anxiety (P<.05) ( Table 6). This might be associated with the fact that the type of informing the patient was only in the form of verbal statements in the clinic where this study was conducted.…”
