The Effect of Acceptor Structure on Emission Color Tuning in Organic Semiconductors with D–π–A–π–D Structures

Abstract: A series of novel donor–acceptor D–π–A–π–D compounds were synthesized and characterized in order to determine the influence of different acceptor units on their properties. The introduction of acceptor moieties had a direct impact on the HOMO and LUMO energy levels. Fluorescence spectra of compounds can be changed by the choice of an appropriate acceptor and were shifted from the green to the near-infrared part of spectra. Due to observed concentration induced emission quenching, the green exciplex type host w… Show more

“…Aromatic, p-conjugated organicc ompounds with donor-acceptor framework have been an objecto fi ntensives cientific interestd uring the last decades because of their effective utilization in the field of organic electronics. Such compounds have found application as hosts for organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), [1,2] emitters in heavy-metal-free OLEDs, [3,4] absorbing materials in dye-sensitized solar cells, [5] and hole-transporting materialsi np erovskite solar cells. [6] In turn, multifunctional materials showing not only efficient thermally activated delayedf luorescence( TADF), but also aggregation-induced emission, polymorphism, or mechanoluminescence, are in great demand for new design strategies [7][8][9] and applicationsi n nondoped OLEDs.…”

“…In this case, the polymerization process can be carefully controlled, via controlling the applied potential, current flowing through the electrode and polymerization charge [ 14 , 15 ]. All these factors are often important for the structure of the polymer and the quality of the obtained polymer layers [ 16 ].…”
