The Effect of Abandoned Basic Oxygen Furnace Gas Blowing on the Softening–Melting–Dripping Performance of Full High Cr‐Bearing Vanadia–Titania Magnetite Pellets

Abstract: It is inevitable to encounter increase in slag thickness, foaming slag, and high iron loss due to excessive formation of titanium carbonitride in blast furnace smelting of full high Cr‐bearing vanadia–titania magnetite (HCVTM). The effects of softening–smelting–dripping properties, the content variation of titanium carbonitride, and mineral element migration process of full HCVTM pellets with abandoned BOF gas (ABOFG) blowing are studied using X‐ray diffraction (XRD), X‐ray fluorescent (XRF), inductively coupl… Show more

“…[14][15][16] The researches of blast furnace smelting V-Ti bearing burden prove that the slag thickening and foaming is caused by Ti(C, N) during the production process, which deteriorates the liquid and gas permeability of the V-Ti bearing burden and destroys the stable operation of blast furnace. [17][18][19] Thermodynamic calculation shows that the theoretical formation temperature of TiC in the TiO 2 -C-Ar system is 1 343.2°C, which is about 200°C higher than the formation temperature of TiN in the TiO 2 -C-N 2 system. 20) Hu et al 21) study the weight loss rate of the reaction between titanium-containing slag and graphite powder respectively using N 2 and Ar as protective gas through thermal analysis.…”

“…The melting-dropping properties of the charge directly determine the permeability of the blast furnace, thus affecting the fuel consumption and smelting efficiency in the blast furnace. [111][112][113] Therefore, the investigation of the effect of iron coke on the melting-dropping properties of the charge can provide a theoretical basis for the actual use of iron coke in the blast furnace. The melting-dropping properties of the charge mainly include softening property, melting property, dropping property, permeability, etc.…”
