The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of different levels of alkalinity for the superintensive cultivation of marine shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei in biofloc system. A total of 12 experimental circular units of 1000L were used supplied with 850L water from a nursery, populated at a density of 165 shrimps.m -3 and average weight of 5.6 g. The treatments, in triplicate, consisted in four levels of alkalinity in the water: 40, 80, 120 and 160 mg.L -1 of calcium carbonate. To correct the alkalinity was used calcium hydroxide (CaOH). It was observed a decrease in pH of the water in the treatments with lower alkalinity (p<0.05). The total suspended settleable solids were also lower in the treatment of low alkalinity. No significant difference was observed in other physico-chemical and biological parameters in the water quality assessed, as well as the zootechnical parameters of cultivation between treatments (p≥0.05). The results of survival and growth rate of shrimps were considered suitable for the cultivation system used in the different treatments. The cultivation of marine shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei in biofloc at density of 165 shrimps.m -3 can be performed in waters with alkalinity between 40 and 160 mg.L -1 of CaCO 3 , without compromising the zootechnical indexes of cultivation.Keywords: Litopenaeus vannamei, heterotrophic cultivation, calcium hydroxide, calcium carbonate. Foram utilizadas 12 unidades experimentais circulares de 1000L abastecido com 850L de água provenientes de um berçário intensivo, povoadas a uma densidade de 165 camarões.m -3 e peso médio 5,6g. Os tratamentos em triplicata consistiram de quatro níveis de alcalinidade na água: 40, 80, 120 e 160 mg.L -1 de carbonato de cálcio. Para correção da alcalinidade, foi utilizado cal hidratada (CaOH). Foi observado um decréscimo no pH da água nos tratamentos de menor alcalinidade (p<0,05). Os sólidos suspensos sedimentáveis totais também foram menores nos tratamentos de menor alcalinidade. Não foi observada diferença significativa nos demais parâmetros físico-químicos e biológicos de qualidade de água avaliados, assim como nos parâmetros zootécnicos do cultivo entre os tratamentos (p≥0,05). Os resultados de sobrevivência e taxa de crescimento dos camarões foram considerados adequados para o sistema de cultivo utilizado nos distintos tratamentos. O cultivo do camarão marinho Litopenaeus vannamei em bioflocos na densidade de 165 camarões.m -3 pode ser realizado em águas com alcalinidade entre 40 a 160 mg.L -1 de CaCO 3 , sem comprometer os índices zootécnicos do cultivo.Palavras-chave: Litopenaeus vannamei, cultivo heterotrófico, hidróxido de cálcio, carbonato de cálcio.

RESUMO -O presente trabalho avaliou o desempenho do camarão marinho Litopenaeus vannamei alimentado com dietas de diferentes níveis protéicos em sistema de bioflocos com e sem a adição de probiótico. Foi adotado um delineamento experimental inteiramente casualizado com arranjo fatorial 4×2, com quatro níveis de proteína na dieta (20, 25, 30 e 35% PB), como primeiro fator (P20, P25, P30 e P35), e a adição de probiótico na água de cultivo, como segundo fator (P20 Pro , P25 Pro , P30 Pro e P35 Pro ). Foram utilizados 24 tanques em fibra de vidro (800 L volume útil) estocados com 300 camarões m -3 (peso inicial 1,55±0,01 g). As variáveis de qualidade da água foram mensuradas periodicamente e não apresentaram diferença estatística, exceto o teor de nitrito, influenciado significativamente (P<0,05) pelos níveis de proteína. Após 50 dias de cultivo o peso médio final dos camarões foi de 7,2±0,4 g (P≥0,05) entre os tratamentos. A interação entre os níveis protéicos e a adição de probiótico influenciaram significativamente (P<0,05) na sobrevivência (70,5-90,0%) e na biomassa final (1,3-2,0 Kg m -3 ). Dessa forma, em cultivo intensivo de L. vannamei, com utilização de bioflocos como fonte de alimento suplementar, é possível reduzir os níveis de proteína da ração de 35 para 25% sem comprometer o desempenho zootécnico dos camarões e a qualidade da água. The interaction of protein levels vs. probiotic addition influenced significantly (P<0.05) the survival (70.6 to 90.0%) and final biomass (1.3-2.0 Kg m -3 ). In Litopenaeus vannamei intensive culture with the utilization of biofloc as the supplemental food, it is possible to reduce the protein levels of feed from 35 to 25%, without compromising the shrimp growth performance and water quality of the culture.

Biorremediación de los efluentes de cultivo del camaróndemostraron que los TaM redujeron los niveles de nitrógeno amoniacal por encima del 71% diariamente; la demanda bioquímica de oxígeno (DBO 5 ) se redujo más de 68% y los sólidos suspendidos (SST) hasta en 62% al compararse con los sistemas control (p < 0,05). Los TaM secuestran la materia orgánica y mineral y ejercen un efecto clarificador en la columna de agua. La descomposición de la materia orgánica se debe al acoplamiento estrecho entre fotoautótrofos y nitrificantes contenidos en los TaM. Esta condición aumenta los niveles de nitrógeno inorgánico en la columna de agua y acelera la nitrificación por arriba de 10 mg N-NO 3 -L -1 (120 ind m -2 ), con lo cual se produce un aumento de hasta 750% más nitratos que los sistemas control. La remoción del fósforo no fue significativa (p > 0,05). El agua bio-remediada tiene un efecto positivo en el cultivo de Litopenaeus vannamei, y promueve el crecimiento y sobrevivencia en presencia de TaM en el SR. Bioremediation of effluents of the culture of Litopenaeus vannamei (Boone, 1931) using microbial mats in a recirculating systemABSTRACT. We developed a recirculating system integrating shrimp culture with microbial mats aiming to mitigate the environmental impacts of by-products from shrimp culture and to advance toward the bioremediation of the shrimp culture water. The microbial consortia collected from natural environments (TaM) was constituted by bacteria (55.6%), Cyanophyte (18.4%), diatoms (9%), nematods (5.6%) and Chlorophyte algae (1.4%) among the major taxonomic groups. The removal of nutrients and solids by these mats was assessed in a recirculating system (2 cycles/hour) (n = 3) containing 60 and 120 ind m -2 of Litopenaeus vannamei. Results showed that the microbial mat reduces daily up to 71% of ammonia nitrogen, decreases around 68% of the biochemical oxygen demand (DBO 5 ) and up to 62% of suspended solids (SST) when comparing to the control systems (p < 0.05). By trapping organic and mineral matter, microbial mats have a clarifying effect on the water column. The mats effectively traps particulate matter and break it down with great efficiency due to the tight coupling between autotrophs and nitrifyers in the mat. This feature increases inorganic nitrogen levels in water column and accelerates nitrification up to 10 mg N-NO 3 -L -1 (120 ind m -2 ) producing 750% more nitrates than the control systems.
