Abstract: Joseph A. Michaels received his B.S. degree from Rutgers University and a M.S. degree in forest economics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute. After 12 years of experience on five National Forests in Region 9, he joined the Planning Assistance Staff, Northeastern Area, State and Private Forestry, in 1980. He joined the Northeastern Forest Experiment Station, Forest Inventory and Analysis Unit, on a parttime basis in 1983 with responsibilities in the Vermont inventory analysis.
