“…In addition, although the sampling stations were located downtown, there were no local PhAC sources nearby. According to the method of Wei et al [24], 57 snow samples were collected from 19 sampling stations (three replicate samples were collected at each sampling station). Snow samples were decanted into 10.0 L pre-combusted (450 • C) dark-brown glass bottles, melted and acidified to pH (3.0 ± 0.5) with 12 M HCl.…”

“…Thus, PAHs in fresh snow and snow cover may re ect PAHs levels in the atmosphere. [8]. Snow is a good deposition matrix for the accumulation and subsequent analysis of the chemical compounds present in it.…”

“…The total PAHs concentrations in fresh snow and snow cover in Changchun city ranged from 26.6 to 36.9 µg L − 1 and from 40.3 to 105.9 µg L − 1 , respectively. [8]. The concentration range of the total PAHs (13 compounds) found in snow collected in the area of the city of Khabarovsk is in the range between 42.83 and 441.13 and 43.00-695.73 ng / L [3] Arkhangelsk is a large city in the north of Russia with a population of about 350 thousand people and a large number of vehicles (more than 144 thousand vehicles).…”

“…A number of authors studied PAHs in urban snow, their release from snowpacks, and transport with snowmelt in urban catchments. In studies of urban PAH sources, the spatial sampling of an urban snowpack was used to characterize industrial (Boom and Marsalek 1988) and traffic sources (Hautala et al 1995;Kuoppamäki et al 2014;Wei et al 2017), demonstrating the dependence of areal deposition on the height of release above the ground and wind transport. Releases of PAHs from snow were studied under controlled laboratory conditions by Schöndorf and Herrmann (1987), who reported that while the dissolved constituents left the snowpack early during thermal melting, as explained by Colbeck (1981), the hydrophobic substances like PAHs were released towards the end of snowmelt.…”
