A new MEM varactor design is presented. It relies on the displacement of an isolated conductor in the air gap of a V-shaped capacitor. To estimate capacitance and tuning ratio of this structure the distributed point source method (DPSM) has been used for electrostatic simulations. The realisation and characterisation of glass motionless prototypes show the feasibility and the interest of this new concept for RF applications. To obtain actuated mobile devices, a novel silicon process has also been developed.

The objective is to identify the various types of ground pipes without excavation. The principle is to associate to each pipe type a characteristic tag incorporating conductive elements. We present the changes made to the first sensor generation with the aim of view to improve its performances. We also describe the sensor modeling and its optimization by the replacement of the flat coils by turned coils. The other principal modifications are the integration of a numerical lock in detection and the use of an audio amplifier to improve the excitation signal. We show the results of methods used to recognize the two coding systems. We conclude by a summary of the improvements obtained and suggestions for future work.In diesem Beitrag wird ein Wirbelstromsensor basierend auf Induktionsausgleich für die Erkennung von verdeckten und leitenden ID-Tags vorgestellt. Ziel ist es, verschiedene Arten von Grundwasserröhren ohne Ausgraben zu identifizieren. Zu jeder Rohrart wird ein charakteristischer ID-Tag mit leitenden Elementen zugeordnet. Basierend auf einer Sensormodellierung werden Optimierungsmaßnahmen des Systementwurfs untersucht. Um einen besseren Empfang zu erreichen werden Flachspulen auf der Empfängerseite durch normale Spulen ersetzt. Für die Berechnung der Phase und der Verstärkung des Empfangssignals wird die numerische Lock-In Methode eingesetzt. Durch einen Audioverstärker wird eine Verbesserung des Anregungssignals erreicht. Verschiedene Kodierungs-und Erkennungsmethoden werden untersucht und evaluiert. Der neue Systementwurf erreicht eine Verbesserung der Empfindlichkeit um 20%. Feldversuche zeigen mögliche Erkennung von Abständen größer als einen Meter.
