Background: The acidic environment due to the interaction of bacteria in the oral cavity triggers the occurrence of dental caries. It is characterized by the increased of bacterial activity at critical pH (4.5-5.5). Mouthwash is used as an antibacterial, but it has unwanted side effects. Herbal mouthwash is considered as an alternative, such as pomegranate peel extract and green tea which have been tested for their effectiveness against Streptococcus mutans bacteria. Objective: To provide information on the differences in the effectiveness of pomegranate peel extract and green tea on salivary pH. Methods: This is an experimental study with a pretest-posttest control group design. Normality test using Shapiro-Wilk, and statistical test using Paired T-Test and Independent T-Test. Results: There was a significant difference in effectiveness between pomegranate peel extract and green tea on salivary pH. Conclusion: Pomegranate peel extract is able to increase salivary pH while green tea lowers salivary pH. This difference in effectiveness allows for different indications to take advantage of the two types of herbs.

Background: Dental implant materials have been developed over time and become an alternative to dental treatment. One of the materials, Ti-6Al-4V, is widely used. The pH saliva in the oral cavity can change due to various factors, thereby affecting the implants durability. This research was conducted to determine the durability of Ti-6Al-4V implants based on their effect on the oral environment. Objective: To analyze change of compressive strength of Ti-6Al-4V in artificial saliva pH 6.5 and dynamic stress treatment. Material and Methods: Laboratory experimental and analytic research was conducted with 27 Ti-6Al-4V implant samples, which were classified into 3 groups, each consisting of 9 samples, including those with no treatment, aquades solution, and artificial saliva with pH of 6.5. In the negative control group, the samples were treated dynamically, while the samples in the positive control group were not treated. Samples from the treatment group were subjected to a dynamic test in accordance with ISO 14801 standards while being immersed in artificial saliva with pH of 6.5. Thereafter, a compression test was conducted on each group. A one-way ANOVA test was used to analyze the comparison of the results. Results: The results of data analysis using One-Way ANOVA found a significance value of less than 0.05 (Sig<0.05). This shows that there is no significant difference between each group and the average maximum compression value was T1<T3<T2. Conclusion: There were no significant changes in compressive strength of Ti-6Al-4V after immersion test with artificial saliva pH 6.5 and dynamic treatment.

Children in the mixed dentition period are prone to oral health problems. This can be caused by the frequent consumption of milk chocolate and the child's chronotype being the night type. This study aims to determine the relationship between milk chocolate consumption habits and chronotype with gingivitis in children with mixed dentition. The study used a survey method with a cross-sectional approach. The population of this study were Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) students in the Situbondo district aged 6-12 years with 100 students from 9 MI subjects. Determination of schools using multistage random sampling and selecting subjects using proportional random sampling. The questionnaires used were the Children Chronotype and Semi-Quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire. Gingival index examination is performed by a dentist. Data analysis used the Pearson statistical test at a significant level a= 0.05. The results showed that 49% of children had a moderate gingival index and 5.8% had a severe gingival index. As many as 23% of children often consume milk chocolate and 13% of children are included in the evening chronotype category. Statistical test results showed a positive correlation between milk chocolate consumption habits and gingivitis (p-value 0.021) and a positive relationship between chronotype and gingivitis (p-value 0.015). In conclusion, there is a correlation between milk chocolate consumption habits and gingivitis and there is a relationship between chronotype and gingivitis in mixed dentition children
