Abstract: SUMMARYSexual reproduction in flowering plants is commonly controlled by self-incompatibility (SI) systems that are either homomorphic (and typically governed by large numbers of distinct allelic specificities), or heteromorphic (and then typically governed by only two allelic specificities).
