The diagnostic accuracy of 256-row computed tomographic angiography compared with invasive coronary angiography in patients with suspected coronary artery disease

Abstract: 256-Row CTA is a highly sensitive test of CAD and has a high predictive value. 256-Row CTA may be a potential alternative to detect coronary artery stenosis and rule out CAD in suspected patients.

“…Since the introduction of 64-or more-slice CT technology, multislice CT (MSCT) angiography has been increasingly used in the diagnosis of coronary artery disease (CAD) due to its improved spatial and temporal resolution [1][2][3][4]. Studies have shown that MSCT angiography is a highly accurate method compared to invasive coronary angiography as it provides high sensitivity and specificity [1][2][3][4][5][6].…”

“…Studies have shown that MSCT angiography is a highly accurate method compared to invasive coronary angiography as it provides high sensitivity and specificity [1][2][3][4][5][6]. In particular, MSCT angiography has been reported to demonstrate a very high negative predictive value (more than 95%), indicating that it can be used as a reliable screening technique for patients suspected of CAD, thereby reducing the need for invasive coronary angiography [5].…”

“…4-7 Furthermore, dual-source CT (DSCT), 256-slice, and 320-detector scanner were developed to significantly improve scan times, volume coverage, and spatial resolution. [8][9][10][11][12] With improvement in the technical aspects of coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA), clinical practice and research are increasingly shifting toward defining the clinical implication of plaque morphology, myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI), and patient outcomes. In this review, we discuss the role of cardiac MDCT beyond coronary angiography, including a comparison with other currently available imaging modalities used to examine atherosclerotic plaque and myocardial perfusion.…”

“…The diagnostic accuracy of 64-slice CCTA Role of Cardiac MDCT of CCTA for exclusion of anatomically significant CAD ( Table 1). [8][9][10][11][12] In a systematic review of the accuracy of DSCT for detection of arterial stenosis in some or all difficult-toimage patients, the pooled, per-patient estimates of sensitivity were 97.7% and 97.7% for patients with arrhythmias and high heart rates, respectively. 15 The corresponding pooled estimates of specificity were 81.7% and 86.3%.…”

“…Çok kesitli BT cihazlarında 64 kesittten 128 ve 256 kesitliye, hatta 320 kesitliye varan sistemlerin gelişmesiyle birlikte tek gantri dönüş süresi içerisinde tüm kalbin görüntülenmesi mümkün hale gelmiştir [47][48][49]. Altmış dört kesitli BT'lerde dedektör kapsama alanı maksimum 4 cm (64x0,625 mm) iken, 256 kesitlide 12,8 cm'ye (256x0,5 mm), 320 kesitlide 16 cm'ye (320x05 mm) ulaşmaktadır.…”
