The need for the formation of research behavior and motivation for intellectual and creative activity of students is substantiated. Definitions of the concepts of academic writing and personal information culture are given. The results of a survey on identifying problems and self-assessment of students’ research skills, preparation and writing of scientific articles are analyzed. The time parameters and reasons for the emergence of academic writing and information culture courses in domestic higher education are considered. A comparative analysis of the content and methodological approaches of the concepts of academic writing and personal information culture is presented. The feasibility of a comparative approach using interdisciplinary methods in the study of interdisciplinary connections of these phenomena is proven in order to improve the quality of preparation and writing of scientific articles by students.
