Abstract

To my parents iii ACKNOWLEDGMENTS My deep gratitude goes first to my advisor, Dr. Aliasger K. Salem for giving me the opportunity to do research in his lab and teaching me how to design and carryout experiments independently. His ability to always recognize the positive side of any situation allowed me to have confidence in my work and encouraged me to stay motivated. This helped a lot in my research as things don't always go as expected. I hope to repay his gratitude towards me and show him how much I learned during the time spent in his lab.
