The development of an ontology model for early identification of children with specific learning disabilities

Abstract: <span lang="EN-US">Ontology-based knowledge representation is explored in special education environment as not much attention has been given to the area of specific learning disabilities such as dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia. Therefore, this paper aims to capture the knowledge in special education domain, represent the knowledge using ontology-based approach and make it efficient for early identification of children who might have specific learning disabilities. In this paper, the step-by-step dev… Show more

“…GO annotations and HPO annotations were downloaded from gene ontology and human phenotype ontology. Using weighted association rule mining, GO term associations and HPO term associations were obtained [23]- [26]. Two networks were constructed; one containing nodes of GO terms and other having nodes of HPO terms.…”

“…On several datasets, Özdemir et al [19] demonstrated how to evaluate the efficacy of various data classifier algorithms. Mohemad et al [20] proposed the construction of a new ontology model in the education sector in order to give early detection of children with learning problems.…”
