The Design Optimization of a Plasma Reactor for Chemical Waste Destruction

Abstract: The heat flux and destruction and removal efficiency (DRE) measurements have been made on 100, 150 and 200 mm diameter plasma reactors to optimize the performance. The DRE was measured for pressure and gas atomization techniques of waste injection using both argon and CO 2 gases. As a result, the design of the reactor was optimized and the waste throughput was increased by ∼17% with improved destruction performance. The 150 mm diameter reactor was found to perform better using gas atomization of feed injection… Show more

“…It is used to assess the technical solution of a design at any choice and at a design stage. Furthermore, through numerical modelling, the final results can be approached using mathematical modelling without presenting the prototypes of the fabricated physical models [1,2]. Charged particles within zinc bromine batteries cells systems anode reactors determine the reduction and the re-oxidizing of these charged metallic zinc on the anode feeder electrode.…”

“…Most of these compounds are extremely harmful to the environment because of their toxicity. Therefore, considerable effort has been directed towards the treatment of XPs, especially CPs, owing to their highest toxicity among XPs [2][3][4][5][6][7][8]. On the other hand, FPs, which are used widely as the precursors for chemicals, pharmaceutics, pesticides, or fire retardant products, have been continuously entering the environment and accumulating because of their inertness.…”

“…Fonte: Rutberg (2003) apud Cheremisinoff, 2005, p. 172. Dayal et al (2004) apresentaram um estudo sobre a destruição de lixo químico, usando o reator a plasma, baseado na tecnologia PLASCON (PLASma-CONversion), que é usado comercialmente para destruir herbicidas, CFC e PCB. O resíduo químico foi injetado num reator a arco de plasma por corrente contínua, adicionado de gás argônio, com objeto de encontrar o melhor formato de reator para máxima DRE (destruction and removal efficiency).…”
