Abstract. Work postures are said to be unergonomic, namely, if the spine is too bent, excessive reach and equipment do not match anthropometric measurements can result in a mismatch between workers, equipment, and the work environment. CV. Tasifa Jaya is a company engaged in the production of frozen food, namely meatballs. Based on initial interviews, weighing workers complained of pain in several parts of the body, especially in the neck, shoulders, upper back, lower back, buttocks, or thighs. The complaints can slow down the production process in the company and result in longer production time. This research uses a qualitative method. The measurement method uses the Nordic Body Map (NBM). NBM is used to identify complaints of pain felt in the worker's body. The results of the distribution of the NBM questionnaire on the neck and buttocks/thighs were rated 3, indicating a low-risk level, requiring rest with a longer duration of time to relieve pain. The upper back, lower back, and shoulders have a pain rating of 5, which has a moderate risk level and requires further treatment to relieve pain. when viewed from the work facilities used today, it will certainly be dangerous and allow the pain to continue to increase with the length of time working. One solution that can be done to reduce MSD complaints is to improve the work facilities used, to suit the conditions of workers. Improving work facilities plays an important role in increasing work comfort and productivity and reducing MSDs complaints. In addition to using ergonomic equipment, MSDs complaints can also be avoided by taking regular breaks and stretching to reduce stress on muscles and joints. Abstrak. Postur kerja dikatakan tidak ergonomis yaitu jika tulang bagian belakang terlalu membungkuk, jangkauan berlebih dan peralatan tidak sesuai dengan ukuran antropometri dapat mengakibatkan terjadinya ketidaksesuaian antara pekerja, peralatan, serta lingkungan kerja. CV. Tasifa Jaya adalah perusahaan yang bergerak dalam produksi makanan frozen food yaitu bakso. Berdasarkan wawancara awal pekerja bagian penimbangan mengeluhkan sakit pada beberapa bagian tubuh terutama pada bagian leher, bahu, punggung atas, punggung bawah, bokong atau paha. Keluhan yang dirasakan dapat memperhambat proses produksi di perusahaan dan mengakibatkan waktu produksi menjadi lebih lama. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif. Metode pengukuran menggunakan Nordic Body Map (NBM). NBM digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi keluhan rasa sakit yang dirasakan pada tubuh pekerja. Hasil penyebaran kuesioner NBM pada bagian leher dan bokong/paha dinilai 3, menunjukkan level risiko rendah, diperlukan istirahat dengan durasi waktu yang lebih lama untuk menghilangkan rasa sakit. Punggung atas, punggung bawah dan bahu memiliki penilaian rasa sakit mencapai 5, dimana memiliki level risiko sedang dan diperlukan penanganan lebih lanjut untuk menghilangkan rasa sakit. jika dilihat dari fasilitas kerja yang digunakan saat ini, tentunya akan berbahaya dan memungkinkan rasa sakit akan terus bertambah seiring lamanya waktu berkerja. Salah satu solusi yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengurangi keluhan MSDs yaitu melakukan perbaikan fasilitas kerja yang digunakan, agar sesuai dengan kondisi pekerja. Perbaikan fasilitas kerja berperan penting untuk meningkatkan kenyamanan dan produktivitas kerja serta sebagai upaya untuk mengurangi keluhan MSDs. Selain menggunakan peralatan ergonomis, keluhan MSDs juga dapat dihindari dengan melakukan istirahat dan peregangan secara teratur untuk mengurangi tegangan pada otot dan sendi.

Occupational Safety and Health for Adult Saudi Arabian Women: Utilizing National Anthropometric Data

In the last five years, the female labor force has increased rapidly in Saudi Arabia. This is due to the new government’s vision to empower women. For many decades, Saudi females were excluded from working in certain fields due to cultural restrictions. Nowadays, Saudi women are not only joining the service workforce but are currently employed in more physically demanding careers, such as manufacturing and military jobs, which were previously dominated by males. It becomes necessary to design workplaces, tools, and equipment to safely accommodate the female physical attributes, which include body dimensions. This study presents the anthropometric measurements of Saudi Arabian adult females. In total, 504 female subjects aged 20–70 participated in the study. Thirty-eight body measurements, including weight and triceps skinfold, were taken in sitting and standing postures. The main contribution of this study is to provide a national anthropometric database of Saudi females, which is very limited, especially for females in the age groups under study. The availability of such data will allow foreign and local manufacturers to design usable and safe products and workspaces for a wide range of Saudi adult females. The findings reveal that there are no significant differences in the body dimensions of Saudi females across all age groups, except for stature height, eye height, chest depth, skinfold (mm), sitting height, buttock–knee length, and hip breadth. The study also reveals that Saudi females’ body sizes are different from other Asian, Middle Eastern, and British nations, which invalidates the assumption of using other nations’ body measurements to estimate Saudis’ body measurements. Utilizing the supermarket cashier workstation to assess the appropriateness of commercial station fit for Saudi females’ body dimensions, the results underscore the crucial role of anthropometric measurements in addressing differences between product design and the unique body dimensions of Saudi females. The identified anthropometric mismatch highlights potential risks, emphasizing the threat to the working safety of Saudi females. Moreover, the data can be used by health professionals as a base to evaluate the health of Saudi adult females. Descriptive statistics and extreme values are determined. The data are presented in standard anthropometric tables.

Tea plantation in Neglasari Pangalengan, Bandung, West Java, is a smallholder tea plantation. In the picking process, there are many manual activities, from picking tea shoots to transferring the pickings to transport trucks. The picking process is carried out for 4 hours starting. Most of this time is spent picking the tea shoots. Farmers must carry baskets where empty baskets weigh between 3.6 and 5.1 kg, while 10 - 15 kg is the weight of filled baskets. Manual handling of this material causes various risks to occupational safety and health, loads are often above the workers’ ability limit and they are faced with non-ergonomic work facilities. In the picking process, workers lift weights of more than 5 kg. Workers who lift loads > 5 kg have a 2.3 times higher risk of experiencing low back pain compared to workers who lift loads ≤ 5 kg. Therefore, this study measured occupational risks and recommendations for improvements to minimize the risk of occupational diseases. The method used is the Key Indicator Method-Awkward Body Postures (KIM-ABP). The result from the risk assessment was 268 where a score greater than 100 indicates high risk and the need for improvements in the workplace.
