The Design Exemplar: The Foundation for a CAD Query Language

Abstract: Design engineers create models of design artifacts with commercial Computer Aided Design (CAD) solid modeling systems and manage the data files through Product Data Management (PDM) systems. These systems stop short of providing support for querying and retrieving data from “within” the CAD data files.
