The design and implementation of Grid database services in OGSA‐DAI

Abstract: SUMMARYInitially, Grid technologies were principally associated with supercomputer centres and large-scale scientific applications in physics and astronomy. They are now increasingly seen as being relevant to many areas of e-Science and e-Business. The emergence of the Open Grid Services Architecture (OGSA), to complement the ongoing activity on Web Services standards, promises to provide a service-based platform that can meet the needs of both business and scientific applications. Early Grid applications focu… Show more

“…The first stage of the optimization process for calculating and storing the DoE is based on the design parameters read from the OGSA-DAI design database [11]. The inputs to the DOE calculation are: The choice of DOE algorithm, the number of design points required, the upper and lower bounds of the parameters, and a "current best set" of parameters (optional).…”

“…This fact has led to the production of vendor systems, such as Oracle11g and IBM DB2. At the level of Grid middleware infrastructure, two notable (and correlated) examples are the OGSA Data Access and Integration (OGSA-DAI) [3] and the OGSA Distributed Query Processor (OGSA-DQP) 1 [4][5][6] projects. These projects have moved toward a serviceoriented architecture quite early in their lifecycle.…”
