“…Since SC generation results from interaction between ultrashort laser pulses and matters, two main approaches have been adopted to control the SC generation in water: (1) adjusting the parameters of femtosecond laser pulses, and (2) changing the property of water. As for the first approach, by changing the spatial and temporal distribution of laser field [26][27][28], polarization state [29], pulse energy [30], etc., the interaction between laser pulses and water is affected. For example, the ionization rate and efficiency is greatly affected by pulse energy and laser polarization state, and consequently the temporal evolution of the plasmas and laser intensity is affected, leading to SPM effect and affecting the spectral broadening.…”
